To help address this, Health Infrastructure Queensland (HIQ), in partnership with Hospital and Health Services (HHS), is leading the biggest hospital expansion program Queensland has ever seen.
The program includes building three new hospitals, expanding 11, upgrading rural and regional health facilities and delivering thousands of new hospital beds in the next five years.
Working in HIQ, you will forge a new sustainable delivery model and contribute to the delivery of projects that ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders – what could be more rewarding than that?We are looking for a skilled and experienced Data Engineer to manage and drive enhancements to HIQ's data architecture in Azure.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in maintaining and optimising HIQ's databases, ETL pipelines and data layer in Azure to ensure seamless integration across HIQ's systems, and timely and reliable reporting.The Data Engineer works closely with the Manager, Data Strategy & Management within the Operations Branch, to design technical solutions that will help realise the objectives of HIQ's data strategy, delivering operational efficiencies and providing the leadership team with actionable insights through standard report offerings and predictive machine learning and AI implementations.The Data Engineer plays a critical role in system development by ensuring the databases and data flows that underpin HIQ's current and future applications are stable and support application functionality; and discrete systems are maximally integrated to reduce duplication, improve data integrity, and streamline reporting pipelines.The successful personTo be successful in the role, you will be able to demonstrate substantial experience delivering large-scale data engineering projects in complex business environments to tight deadlines, preferably in the context of infrastructure delivery and/or financial and non-financial performance monitoring in a large organisation.You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and experience deploying, contemporary cloud-based data engineering tools on the Azure platform to extract, transform and load large datasets – and engineer and maintain data layers (E.g., data warehouses, data lakes, etc.)

You will have the skills and knowledge to identify and implement optimal solutions and will be able to efficiently troubleshoot database and pipeline issues.
You will be proficient in programming languages including SQL, Python, R, Power Query M and DAX.You will have strong organisational skills and have experience using DevOps to manage projects, be able to work autonomously and as part of a team and be willing to share your knowledge and experience to support business continuity.
You will enjoy problem solving, have an eye for detail, and will proactively share your ideas to drive business improvement.
You will be flexible and have a positive attitude to your work.The ideal candidate will have a university qualification in IT, computer science, data science or similar.
Professional accreditation (E.g.
Microsoft Azure, Databricks, etc.)
