Closing Date:2024-10-27 11:45 PM(YYYY-MM-DD) This is a full-time (40 hours per week) fixed term role for a period of 3 years, which provides an opportunity to work in the beautiful heritage-listed Government House in the centre of Perth.The Lead Speechwriter and Researcher is responsible for preparing speeches and communications material and conducting high-level research in support of the Governor's program and the Office of the Governor.The role undertakes high-level research and analysis in line with the Governor's strategic priority areas.The role is responsible for speech and content writing and development, research, brand management, general communications tasks, and ensuring the right systems, policies, and standard operating procedures are in place to support the function.Job Responsibilities Prepare timely, well-researched, high-quality speeches for the Governor to deliver.Liaise with a range of key stakeholders including patronages and community-based organisations to enhance communication and information flow to the Governor.Research, write and edit content to support the Governor, including official messages, factsheets, media releases and other communications materials aligned with the Governor's priorities as directed.Research and prepare briefing papers and talking points on a range of historical and current issues.Undertake research and analysis of subjects and issues of strategic interest to the Governor to assist in shaping the Vice Regal program.Provide strategic advice and guidance on communications and media matters.Take personal responsibility for meeting objectives and progressing work and use initiative to engage in additional tasks as required.Work collaboratively, providing support and assistance as required.Provide communications and media support, including social media, mainstream media and web-based assets.Perform duties as required to support Governors Establishment events including but not limited to: investitures, open day events, dignitaries and Vice Regal events.Other duties as required. Selection Criteria High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise and consult with people at all levels and maintain effective working relationships with external stakeholders and within a small team environment.Exceptional written communication skills, editing and ability to adapt to different audiences.Demonstrated experience in research and speech writing on a range of topics.Ability to deliver finished material against tight deadlines.Demonstrated willingness to readily adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in strict timeframes.Demonstrated time management, prioritisation and organisation skills.High level liaison, engagement and interpersonal skills with stakeholders.Experience in a communications and media role.Demonstrated skills and experience in public relations, including developing and implementing communication plans and media strategies.Well-developed influencing and negotiating skills.A broad understanding of contemporary issues affecting the Western Australian community, and the role of Governor.Tertiary qualification in a communications discipline.Website content management (WordPress) and digital communications content development experience.At least 3 years experience in a similar role.
