The Opportunity
You will play a central role in designing and reshaping how Australians access, engage with, and discover our nation's rich archival records.

The Role
As a Lead Service / Experience Designer, you will lead experience design efforts across five key areas: Search & Discovery, Collection Content, Client Portals, Payments, and Workflow Management.
You'll map current-state experiences, surface user pain points, and champion service improvements that balance business needs and user aspirations.
Using a human-centred approach, you'll work across disciplines to translate research into journeys, blueprints, wireframes, and prototypes that create clear, cohesive digital experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and deliver user research and testing using human-centred design methods
* Facilitate workshops, design-thinking sessions, and usability testing
* Create journey maps, service blueprints, personas, wireframes, and prototypes
* Work across the end-to-end service lifecycle, from discovery through delivery
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Ensure designs meet accessibility, service design, and APS standards
The Ideal Person
You are a strategic designer who thrives in complex environments and can influence across teams. You would already have experience in working in large digital transformation programs ideally with millions of users in web-based application settings.
Ideally, you have a strong background in human-centred design, with tertiary qualifications. You are proficient with Miro and tools for mapping, research, and prototyping.
Successful applicants will need to have baseline AGSVA security clearance.
Salary / Rate
* An hourly rate of $125/hr - $150/hr including super or negotiable
* Contract until 30 June 2026 with extension options
