This includes the p rovision of Occupational Therapy services primarily in an inpatient setting, including the cardiology/cardiothoracic wards and other wards as required. Primary duties include clinical assessment, treatment, home assessment, equipment prescription, discharge planning, and referral onto specialist services as needed. This position is responsible for overall coordination of the University clinical placements for Occupational Therapy across the campus, as well as direct supervision of regular students. The position may also require supervision of junior staff at various times and is required to participate in Occupational Therapy team activities, quality improvement and research. Assistance to other clinical areas at St Vincent’s Hospital may be required depending on overall team capacity and the role is also a key contributor in the development and coordination of the departmental professional development program. Selection Criteria: Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia. Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy and Current Australian Occupational Therapy Registration (AHPRA). Extensive post-graduate clinical experience in acute and/or sub-acute hospital settings with experience desired in cardiology/cardiothoracic/thoracic medicine and associated conditions. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of OT assessments including, intervention, home visits, equipment prescription and discharge planning. Experience in clinical management of complex cases with the ability to apply advanced clinical reasoning skills and independent professional judgment on both routine and complex matters. Extensive experience with supervision and management of Occupational Therapy students and staff at all levels with a demonstrated capacity to promote learning. Demonstrated advanced interpersonal, communication, teamwork, negotiation and leadership skills Demonstrated ability to participate in service development, quality projects, research and professional development.
