What will you be doing?
As part of the Instrumentation, Automation & Control Services Team at Sydney Water, the Electrical Technician role will assist the business deliver ongoing project work on behalf of Sydney Water. Projects will involve our strategic initiatives in the areas of telemetry, instrumentation and industrial automation. Additional “on the job training” will be provided for the successful applicant.
1. Apply Sydney Water safety procedures while working on assets.
2. Perform project installation work as required in accordance with Australian and Sydney Water standards.
3. Assist Commissioning Engineers to commission assets after modification work.
4. Interpret electrical schematics and scopes of work to achieve successful outcomes.
5. Contribute and provide an active involvement in project team activities.
This is a highly autonomous field-based role working across all areas of Sydney Water operations.
Who are we looking for?
We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all Sydney Water employees, contractors, and our customers. This is a field-based role, and you must be able to work autonomously with an initiative mindset to make field-based decisions.
You will have:
1. A Valid NSW Electrical licence with working knowledge of the latest version of AS / NZ 3000 wiring rules.
2. Industrial Instrumentation certification or demonstrated experience (desirable).
3. A current NSW driver’s licence.
4. A valid or the ability to obtain a current confined spaces certificate + OHS White card.
5. Experience in the installation of electrical equipment in an Industrial Environment.
6. Experience with performing modifications to wiring within switchboards / control panels and documenting any modifications.
7. Ability to work under limited direction and to deadlines.
8. Experience with telemetry and interfaced SCADA systems and wiring (desirable).
9. Experience with instrument calibration procedures and relevant Australian Standards (desirable).
