We are currently seeking a Logistics & Supply Chain Specialist to join the onsite Mercedes-Benz Australia Global Customer Service and Parts Logistics Operations Team that collectively manages our impressive 28,000 square metre National Logistics Centre located in Laverton North, Melbourne where the role is based.
By joining our team, you will be involved in all aspects of the operations including warehousing, transportation and supplier management within a role that has plenty of variety with a focus on Inventory and Location Management.
Our ideal candidate will be ready to be immersed in the logistics and supply chain operations of a large iconic brand and moreover, excited to get hands on in a fast paced, multi-faceted operation.
The role is made up of two halves: We require someone excited to apply their analytical, project management and continuous improvement skills to improve inventory accuracy, location management and maximize space utilisation. With a passion for continuous improvement, we need someone who can look at a process, identify gaps and apply their logic to effect change for the benefit of all stakeholders.A key function is your day-to-day interactions with various internal and external contacts, working closely with our third party logistics (3PL) suppliers on inventory management and supply chain topics that arise. We need someone with a proactive, customer centric approach who can communicate at all levels.Given the enormity of the Logistics Centre's operations, you will be required to:
Improve inventory accuracy to ensure customer expectations and internal targets are met.Ensure efficient location management planning by optimizing the storage locations and space utilization of the Logistics Centre.Control stock taking activities and requirements including cycle counting, trend checks and Random Sample Inventory counts.Guide our 3PL supplier in new part storage, overflow, clearing activities and expired parts management.Create and analyse daily, weekly and monthly reports in order to display a pioneering spirit in highlighting areas for improvements and furthermore, manage initiatives to implement these improvements.Have the ability to pinpoint continuous improvement opportunities via thorough root cause analysis and implement change to address these in a fast paced operation.Be driven to win in supporting 3PL providers to meet their contractual requirements, key performance indicators and service levels.Be agile – have the ability to manage and prioritise workloads in a time sensitive environment to achieve excellence for all stakeholders.Take responsibility for various operations and become the subject matter expert.Qualifications What you will need to be successful: You will have a logistics/supply chain or relevant business degree or have a level of demonstrable practical experience particularly in Inventory Management (2-3 years).You'll be a team player, organized, friendly, have a relationship styled approach in dealing with suppliers and customers with a can-do attitude.You must have strong analytics reasoning and be solutions oriented.Strong attention to detail as there is a large element of data entry and focus on numbers.Be able to manage your own workload and able to multi-task.Intermediate computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power BI experience would be highly regarded).SAP, ERP, WMS and inventory systems knowledge and experience is highly desirable.Why you should apply: This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, results driven individual with the aspiration to work in an industry-leading environment in a role that has a broad scope of responsibilities.
