Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to lead and support the Hotel Services teams in all day-to-day operations in managing and coordinating food and catering services, ensuring food safety standards are met, plus cleaning, laundry, maintenance, and gardening services at MSHC’s premises, the premises of MSHC’s consumers, and any other contracted service location that MSHC may secure.
The Hotel Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring quality outcomes for residents in alignment with MSHC’s goals, objectives, planning, policies, processes, procedures, and legislative and regulative requirements. This role works closely with the Director of Facilities to actively monitor the quality of all hotel services activities as viewed from the perspective of the consumer accessing these services.
Role Accountabilities
1. Lead, supervise and mentor the teams directly responsible for delivering food and catering services, cleaning and laundry services, and maintenance and gardening services, to deliver responsive consumer-focused care at the required standard.
2. Effectively support your teams to achieve planned goals and objectives, within established budget parameters and via sound service development, business planning, and risk management practices.
3. Develop and maintain a team-focused approach to hotel service delivery, including promoting an environment that supports and empowers employees to actively support each other in the workplace while embedding a safety culture.
4. Support the recruitment team to ensure that hotel services staffing numbers are maintained at agreed safe staffing levels and within budget.
5. Provide support and direction to the Rostering Coordinator as required to ensure appropriate staffing levels and personnel.
6. Work collaboratively with the relevant managers to ensure sound financial management, resource planning, and decision-making processes.
7. Participate in the investigation, review, and management of staff incidents, compliments, and complaints as required.
8. Support the education and training of hotel services staff and students or trainees undertaking placement at May Shaw.
9. Ensure timely engagement with new employees providing necessary support and check-ins to facilitate a smooth transition into the organisation.
10. Coordinate and conduct performance reviews offering insights and feedback to support employee development.
11. Act as a role model of May Shaw values and mentor team to motivate, develop, recruit and retain a skilled workforce.
12. Work collaboratively with the Clinical Care Coordinator to support the delivery of high-quality outcomes in clinical and care service delivery.
13. Actively participate in ongoing evaluation and revision of hotel service provision in order to continuously improve systems, processes, and procedures to ensure consumer-focused outcomes.
14. Prepare and actively participate in meetings and work groups, as required, and ensure the reporting of timely, relevant, and regular information.
15. Ensure that all relevant legislative requirements pertaining to hotel services delivery are always complied with and raise employee awareness and response to those requirements. This includes areas such as food services (HACCP Standards), laundry and cleaning standards, building and maintenance certification, and accreditation.
16. Assist the Director of Facilities and Quality team to ensure that quality documentation and management plans are implemented and maintained to effectively support hotel services practices and to reflect both current and changing care needs of consumers.
Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will bring the following:
* Qualifications in a management-related field – business, human services, hospitality - or related industry experience (min 2 years).
* Demonstrated experience in leadership and management of people, including recruitment, induction, training, performance, change management, and team-building skills.
* Demonstrated experience in managing services within budget and financial parameters.
* Demonstrated experience in an aged care environment highly desirable.
* Demonstrated knowledge of legislative and government regulations relating to “Hotel Services”, in particular WHS legislation, food, and laundry services.
* Excellent organisational ability, attention to detail, and flexibility to adapt to a changing environment.
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, and excellent interpersonal ability.
* Ability to role model values through behaviour to inspire staff to achieve quality outcomes aligned to our vision.
* Current driver licence.
