An excellent opportunity has become available for a dynamic and highly motivated Nursing Manager to lead the professional team in the Surgical Ward, specialising in Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, and Neurosurgery at a private hospital in Newcastle. It is a permanent full-time role. ROLE OVERVIEW As a Nurse Unit Manager, your responsibilities will include:
1. Providing leadership and direction to the ward to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget, and business objectives of the hospital;
2. Offering operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management and coordinating the delivery of evidence-based nursing care;
3. Being accountable for the effective management of human, financial, and material resources while maintaining optimal customer service levels;
4. Undertaking direct patient care as needed, offering guidance and support to less experienced nursing team members;
5. Participating in working parties and committees, demonstrating a commitment to continuous quality improvement through NSQHS, workplace health and safety, and achieving hospital accreditation.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
As the successful applicant, you will possess the following attributes:
6. Current AHPRA registration;
7. Working with Children check;
8. At least 5 years of relevant experience;
9. Post Graduate qualification in a relevant specialty field (or working towards);
10. Experience in managing a department (including acting/deputising a manager role);
11. Compliance with ACSQHC National standards;
12. A strong commitment to developing in a management role;
13. Computer literacy including MS Office and various databases;
14. Ability to work cohesively within a team environment;
15. Proven time management and prioritisation skills;
16. Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management;
17. Demonstrated HR management experience.

REMUNERATION
$62.46 to $65.42. ABOUT THE FACILITY The hospital, located in Newcastle, is an 189-bed, acute, private facility with 11 theatres, including a hybrid theatre and a 15-bed Intensive Care Unit. The Maternity Unit comprises a Birthing Suite, Maternity Ward, and Special Care Nursery. Birthing Suite has 6 rooms on the ground floor, with Croudace Operating Theatres adjacent.
