The key duties of the position include:The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) Chief of Staff / Manager of the CEO Office directly reports to the CEO.
The role is responsible for supporting and sustaining the effective operation of the CEO's Senior Leadership Team, ensuring that our activities are properly aligned and managed effectively to ensure the implementation of a newly developed AIMS strategic plan within a multi-level governance framework (individual, team, program, institute, internal and external).
You will support the CEO and Directors by working collaboratively and inclusively to ensure robust governance, strategic planning and risk are in place to ensure priorities are delivered on time and to budget consistent with an adaptive and people-centred delivery framework.
Working across all programs and sites, this position is the primary coordination point between the CEO and the rest of the organisation, providing high level support to the CEO and Directors in relation to planning, decision making and accountabilities, and working closely with all members of the wider AIMS Leadership Team (ALT) and other senior stakeholders to deliver integration and cohesion of corporate, operational, professional services to enhance delivery of our strategic science initiatives.
About youYou will be an experienced senior level leader, with a background in a scientific discipline (ideally inter-, multi- and/or transdisciplinary), who can question and challenge, influence colleagues, lead change and achieve results.
Your approach will be considerate, open, persuasive and engaging, bringing colleagues and key stakeholders along with you, ensuring strategic alignment and transformational change, where appropriate.
The ability to analyse data, distil and communicate relevant information and its context to AIMS Senior leaders is an important aspect of this role.
You will actively network across AIMS and with external partners and will understand the importance of relationships and wider engagement.
