About the OpportunityKAMShas a highly rewarding opportunity for a dedicated General Practitionerto join their multidisciplinary team in Broome, WA. We have an available 1.6 FTE. This role is being offered on a full time or part time basis.
Reporting to the KAMS Senior Medical Officer, this role provides comprehensive primary health care in line with accepted best practice standards and in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, assist in the development and maintenance of high quality health services, ensuring continuous monitoring, quality improvement and innovation in the delivery of comprehensive primary health services.
Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
Provide clinical primary health care services as part of the regular GP roster. This will include working over the remote clinic sites and Headspace Broome.Provide emergency assessment, stabilisation and care during hours, and on-call after-hours (where rostered). Liaise closely with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Broome Hospital and or Emergency Telehealth Service for timely evacuation.Ensure that clinical care is in line with regional best practice standards.Ensure a commitment to the uptake of KAHPF protocols, Kimberley Maternal and Child Health protocols, Kimberley Standard Drug list, and other endorsed tools for regional best practice.Participate in the implementation of in-services for health staff, with frequency and content determined in conjunction with senior managers and based on current staff skills and needs.Participate in regional and local KAMS health initiatives such as health research, regional best practice guidelines, health information, IT development, medical education and training and other areas of clinical governance. It is encouraged to contribute your own expertise to such projects as well as taking up the opportunity to develop in areas of particular personal and career interest.About YouTo be successful, you will be afully qualified General Practitioner who has, or is eligible for, full registration with AHPRA. Applications are encouraged from both experienced or recently qualified GPs, with significant support structures in place for those who have just finished their vocational training years.
Previous experience working in remote areas or with Aboriginal communities isnot essential, providing you are a strong communicator and team player, willing to work within remote Aboriginal communities and able to provide care to patients in a culturally appropriate manner.
It is imperative that you can work effectively within KAMS's pre-existing structures of governance as part of a multidisciplinary team of Doctors, Aboriginal Health Workers, Registered Nurses, Health Promotion Workers, and a variety of Allied Health Professionals.
In addition, you will need to have a current C class manual driver's license and be willing to travel by 4WD and light aircraft when required. It is a requirement that the successful candidate be willing to undergo a National Police Check prior to employment with KAMS.
