POSITION: Special Education Teacher
STARTING DATE: 2024/2025 School Year
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Special Education Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Teaching Certification with any of the following special education endorsements: LD, CI, ASD, EI
2. Preferred, Teacher Consultant Certification for Learning Disabilities
3. Highly Qualified status
Special Education Teacher: will be responsible for resource room and/or co-teaching core curriculum. This teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing appropriate grade level content expectations and activities for special education students in collaboration with a general education teacher, and writing/implementing IEPs for students on his/her caseload. This teacher must also possess the ability to communicate effectively with all students, their parents/guardians, outside agencies, and district staff.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills Desired :
4. Classroom experience involving differentiated teachingBasic knowledge of child development as well as experience applying this knowledge to appropriate developmental activitiesKnowledge of teaching and learning styles including multiple intelligences, auditory, kinesthetic, visual, and language modalitiesFamiliarity with MTSS and developing and implementing PBIS plansExceptional communication skills including both oral and written skillsStrong data collection and interpersonal skills along with the ability to be flexibleExperience using assistive technology coupled with basic technology skills
5. Ability to conduct IEP meetings and complete IEP forms in conformance with the MI special education and IDEA rules.
6. Ability to conduct student classroom assessments and prepare reports as part of the Multidisciplinary Education Team (MET)
7. Ability to report services provided as required by Medicaid.
8. Maintain attendance records and other data, records and reports required by the program supervisor.
9. Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Stockbridge Community School District and Ingham Intermediate School District.
10. Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings.
11. Punctual, reliable and predictable attendance is required
12. Other duties as assigned.
