Bravus Mining & Resources is an Australian company dedicated to creating jobs and opportunities for regional Queensland communities. We are recruiting a Mine Planning Engineer for the Carmichael Mine, which is a 15mtpa coal mine located north-west of Clermont in central Queensland.
About The Role
The role is primarily responsible for the designing and scheduling of medium-term operations. The Mine Planning Engineer will perform all functions relating to the design of mining and dumping locations, access and haul road design. The engineer will effectively communicate with the short-term planning engineers to ensure that the plan is effectively implemented by the mining department.
The position will be based on-site working Monday through to Thursday and at the Townsville or Rockhampton office on Friday (5/2 roster).
Responsibilities Of The Role
* Maintenance of the 24-month Short Range Forecast (SRF).
* Ensure that the medium-term mine plans are adapted and amended to optimise safe working conditions within the mining operation.
* Review methodologies for overburden removal and handling and make recommendations for the optimum methodologies to be utilised.
* Design and optimise dumping and ramping systems to ensure maximum dump space is leveraged with an optimum haulage and progressive rehabilitation cost profile.
* Review and optimise the medium-term mine design and schedules, providing planning options to ensure the resource is mined in the most cost-effective way consistent with company and legislative requirements.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure optimisation of resources to meet the mine plan.
* Ensure that the medium-term mine plans and schedules highlight all enablers necessary for execution and identify associated risks and opportunities to support informed decision-making and optimal operational outcomes.
* Assist in the preparation and development of the annual budget as required.

Other Qualifications And Attributes Required Include
* Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
* Over 5 years of open cut mining engineering experience, with experience in terrace mining, drill and blast, and truck shovel planning.
* High level of analytical ability.
* Greenfield coal mine development.
* Strong technical understanding of geotechnical bulk materials handling.
* In-depth knowledge of legislation and policies for Australian Coal Operations.
* Strong ability in the usage of mine and scheduling design tools – Vulcan and SPRY.
* Engineering skills and applied experience with open cut project development and development of mine safety management plans.
* Ability to demonstrate initiative and work constructively within team-based environments.
