The Vehicle Safety and Standards (VSS) team is responsible for vehicle inspections and vehicle safety compliance held at the Hume Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS) which includes light vehicle, heavy vehicle, public vehicle, and modified vehicle inspections and vehicle identity checks. This position involves working in the Hume Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (Hume MVIS) under the general direction of the MVIS Manager to provide specialist inspections and advice for vehicle identifications and written-off vehicles support to the MVIS. Provide advice to engineering signatories, Authorised Examiner Repairers, the automotive industry, and the public. This position assists in conducting on-road compliance programs and conducting vehicle inspections. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Automotive Trades (Mechanic) Certificate 3 or equivalent is essential. A current Australian C class driver licence or higher with no convictions for a disqualifying offence. Active participation in Access Canberra’s Health Monitoring Scheme which follows the guidelines outlined in the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011.
