The HMC Group has extensive aviation, tourism, and accommodation operations in some of the most iconic regions of Australia and is seeking a Group Work Health and Safety Advisor to drive the WHS function across the Group. The HMC Group currently has offices in Perth, Kununurra, Broome, Karratha, Geraldton and Adelaide, and has an expanding team of approaching 400 employees, with further and substantial business growth forecast over the next five years. You will work closely with passionate teams across various business units to drive safer and healthier outcomes, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and promoting a proactive safety culture. This high-collaboration role allows a proactive and hands-on approach, partnering with each business unit to assess, monitor, and mitigate both work health and safety risks and other enterprise risks, supporting our organisation's regulatory compliance obligations. Key Duties and Responsibilities include: Legislative and Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on all relevant legislation, standards, and regulations affecting HMC Group's diverse businesses and provide expert guidance to each business unit, ensuring a clear understanding and effective management of their WHS compliance obligations. WHS Framework Development: Design, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive workplace health and safety system, incorporating innovative controls and strategies to effectively mitigate health and safety risks across all business units. Strategic WHS Leadership: Identify and drive long-term strategic initiatives within the WHS portfolio. Conduct in-depth research and provide actionable recommendations to the leadership team to enhance safety outcomes and operational efficiency. Psychosocial Hazard Management: Increase awareness of psychosocial hazards within the workplace and collaborate with leaders to develop and implement robust controls, fostering a supportive and safe work environment. Continuous Improvement: Lead the ongoing enhancement of WHS policies, processes, systems, and training programs, focusing on improving operational risk management and achieving superior compliance outcomes across the organisation. Safety Culture Promotion: Champion a proactive safety culture across the HMC Group, develop and deliver engaging training programs and awareness initiatives that instil a deep commitment to safety and compliance within all teams. WHS Investigations: Oversee and conduct thorough WHS investigations, ensuring they are conducted to the highest standards, review reports and ensure timely closure of findings, driving accountability and continuous improvement in safety practices. About you: Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety or equivalent. Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience working in a relevant WHS or HSE role. Knowledge of and ability to interpret relevant health and safety legislation (including applicable acts, regulations, standards, and codes of practice, policies and procedures). A working knowledge of how the workers compensation system works so as to be able to manage this function within the business. Expert knowledge of contemporary safety issues and best practices, coupled with a deep understanding of statutory framework governing safety and risk. Experience in the development and implementation of risk management frameworks. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate in a confident and positive manner in both a written and verbal capacity. Analytical mind and excellent problem-solving skills, able to interpret various regulatory requirements and standards and devise solutions that balance competing risk and compliance requirements with operational objectives.
