We have an exciting full-time opportunity for an Automated Biochemistry Scientist to conduct and report on biochemical tests with precision and accuracy, supporting clinical diagnostics and patient care.
This role involves operating biochemical instruments including chemistry and immunoassay techniques.
Must be able to work various shifts Monday to Friday. Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays are required on a rotating roster.
As the Automated Biochemistry Scientist, you will become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:
Perform biochemical testing using various techniques, including chemistry and immunoassay. Verification of results and provide comprehensive reports to support clinical diagnoses. Ensure the precision and accuracy of all tests conducted, supporting reliable clinical diagnoses and patient care. Document and verify test results accurately and promptly. Perform regular maintenance and basic troubleshooting on automated and manual Biochemistry instrumentation and equipment, ensuring optimal performance. Participate in regular training for relevant techniques, instrumentation operation, engage in ongoing departmental competency programs and external quality assurance programs. Maintain accurate records of relevant laboratory activities, including test results, quality control data, and equipment maintenance logs. Collaborate with colleagues and the Chief Scientist to identify areas for improvement and implement workflow enhancements for continuous laboratory improvement. About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent. Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within a clinical biochemistry laboratory. Experience validating and reporting patient results. Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification. A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures. A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member. Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment. Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
