Role: Community and Kinship Care/Delegated Authority Assessor
Work Location: Sunshine Coast, QLD
Employment Type: Permanent part time, 4 days (30, 32 or 34.4hrs)
Salary Range: $35 - $46 per hour plus super
Mandatory Qualification & Experience: Diploma or Degree in Community/Social Services and/or a minimum 1 year of experience writing assessments for foster and kinship care
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assessing the suitability of potential foster carers, along with conducting carer reviews that confirm their ongoing suitability.
* Implementing the 5 elements of the Child Placement Principle
* Meeting with potential foster carers and working with them through the assessment process
* Completing home assessment following the departmental Home Assessment Guide
* Interviewing and completing references
* Placement assessment to provide appropriate placement for children and young people, where their needs are matched to the foster carers skill and environment
Selection Criteria:
* Experience completing Community & Kinship Care assessments
* Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Well-developed understanding of child protection legislation
* Ability to write clear, evidence-based, unbiased reports and reviews
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to have honest and at times challenging conversations
