The South West Region’s key service deliverables include nature conservation, parks and visitor services, sustainable forest management, fire management, and land-use planning. These services are delivered via the Blackwood District, located at Busselton with work centres at Margaret River, Nannup and Kirup, and the Wellington District, located at Collie with a smaller work centre at Harvey.
We currently have an opportunity for a Regional Interpretation Officer to join our team.
Under the limited direction of the Regional Leader Parks and Visitor Services, you will:
* Coordinate the planning, design and delivery of visitor information and interpretation and community engagement for parks and reserves of the South West Region.
* Participate in planning and implementing priority parks and visitor services projects in the South West Region.
* Build strong networks through effective liaison with stakeholders, specialist advisers, community and special interest groups, and promote community support for departmental goals and strategies.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.
* Considerable experience and demonstrated competence in planning, designing, developing and implementing visitor interpretation and community engagement programs, with considerable working knowledge of and commitment to natural and cultural heritage interpretation.
* Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and oral communication skills and demonstrated experience in communicating and liaising with external organisations, stakeholders, the community, volunteers and special interest groups including traditional owners, to build effective networks and promote community support and involvement in projects.
* Considerable working knowledge of graphic design and interpretation production techniques and the ability to prepare appropriate text for signs and publications.
* Evidence of highly developed written communication skills including the ability to simplify and convey complex scientific information.
* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer software used for planning and production of visitor interpretation.
