About the Role
As a Systems Technician at HMAS Watson, you will play a key role in maintaining and supporting advanced training systems for the Navy. You will work closely with a team to ensure operational readiness by maintaining simulator systems, diagnosing technical faults, and contributing to compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Bridge Simulator and other advanced training systems
* Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on training systems
* Maintain an Asset Database and Task Management suite through MRID
* Diagnose faults in training systems, networks, and audiovisual equipment
* Report system availability to Training Staff and Technical Lead
* Ensure network configuration control across all training systems
About You
You are a motivated IT professional who excels in troubleshooting and problem-solving. You possess excellent communication skills, able to work effectively with non-IT stakeholders to understand, analyze, and solve complex problems.
Requirements:
* Degree or Diploma qualified in an IT discipline or Electrical Engineering background
* Previous work experience within a Defence environment is preferred but not essential
* Experience with Fault diagnosis of training systems, information systems, training networks, and audio-visual equipment will be viewed favourably
* Flexible with availability with shifts covering 5am to midnight Monday to Friday
* Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to show initiative and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
* Current and valid Driver's Licence is Essential to meet the travel requirements of the role
