We are looking for an experienced Day Shift Manager to join the Nestle Distribution Centre in Altona, Victoria. This role will manage and supervise direct and indirect labour for the warehouse.
You will be responsible for the allocation of correct equipment and resources to ensure inbound and outbound customer service levels are met, ensure a safe workplace, and undertake all WHS activities, compliance, permitting, and return to work management.
A day in the life…
Reporting to the Operations Manager, key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Ensure timely cost-effective deployment of people and equipment in accordance with agreed standard practices whilst additionally ensuring people and asset safety.
* Manage ongoing development of warehouse standards and the communication and adherence to the standards and the continuity of operation between shifts.
* Adhere to 5S standards and improvement of those standards.
* Ensure Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) leadership whereby the entire shift is engaged to a zero accident/injury/incident mentality and compliance to site SH&E systems.
* Management of SH&E Incidents, investigations, and return to work plans for Injured Personnel.
* Ensure ongoing development of warehouse operators and Operations Support personnel capability through coaching, delegation, and continuous interaction.
* Champion a problem-solving culture through the adoption and integration of Nestle Continuous Excellence (NCE).
* Ensure high availability of assets and coordinate maintenance.
* Manage effective shift handover meeting and upward communication.
* Review the individual performance of shift personnel, implementing performance coaching discussions in accordance with due process.
* Lead and develop a customer-focused culture, anticipating customer needs and ensuring actions are taken to eliminate customer dissatisfaction.
* Investigate the cause of customer service failure and rectify root cause with performance management and/or standard routine reviews.
What will make you successful
* Joining a collaborative team of specialists, you will be a strong communicator with a drive to deliver quality outcomes with efficiency and a passion for continuous process improvement.
* You will be a good People Motivator and possess the ability to coach and engage with people at all levels.
* Be process-driven, with adherence and compliance to Process and quality standards.
* 3+ years’ experience in Warehouse operations (Electronic WMS systems).
* Experience with Racking inspections and understanding of supply chain end-to-end relationships and the role a DC plays in delivering high customer service standards.
* Knowledge of WHS standards and application.
* Return to Work management and injury management.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills and a proven capacity to influence and negotiate to drive high standards of performance and quality.
* Self-management following defined KPIs/Objectives, and proactively tracking them.
