Senior Advisor, Governance Branch and Division : Strategy & Performance, NSW Fair Trading Grade : Clerk 09/10 Location : McKell, Sydney Central Term : Ongoing Full Time Closing Date: Tuesday, 19 November 2024 by 11:00 am About the role: We are looking for a Senior Governance Advisor to support and provide expert advice on enterprise governance, business resilience, risk, compliance, controls and policy frameworks. In this role, you will be a key player of the Governance & Business Resilience Team which provides broad governance support in the delivery, development and execution of risk, compliance, business continuity and audit coordination management. As a Senior Governance Advisor, you will help deliver governance advice and support to NSW Fair Trading with an initial focus on uplifting organisational responsibility through the design and development of an overarching Governance Framework. Beyond this initial focus, you will design and implement a program of work (including embedding of the Internal Controls Framework) to monitor the ongoing efficacy of the Governance Framework and work collaboratively with the business areas to deliver on these priorities. Additionally, you will support transparency by proactively identifying and reporting on key metrics and leading indicators to highlight any risks and opportunities to influence future business decisions and regulatory strategies. Lastly, you will manage the Business Continuity Policy and associated processes. Key Responsibilities: As an integral member of the team, you will: Develop, document and oversee broad governance programs across the organisation to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of good governance and ethical decision making to support compliance. Ensure the organisation and individual staff undertake their roles and responsibilities according to the Governance Framework and ethical decision making. This includes having oversight and monitoring of key activities through the embedment of the Internal Controls Framework and ongoing enhancement of the Governance Framework. Create and prepare regular management reports and insights to the Executive Leadership regarding NSW Fair Trading risks, compliance, audit, and corporate legislative responsibilities. Additionally, you will conduct data analysis to identify trends across the data. Lead the ongoing development, implementation, and management of the Business Continuity Policy by managing stakeholder engagement, documentation, and related processes (training, exercises etc). Drive continuous improvement initiatives with the aim of enhancing governance knowledge, awareness and culture within the organisation by partnering with stakeholders as a trusted business advisor, providing advice and guidance, facilitating workshops, reviews, trainings and tests to support strategic and operational objectives. Support the documentation of key controls and implement and perform assurance activities (i.e. Controls Testing for design and operating effectiveness) that will contribute to organisational objectives. Support the delivery of any other governance initiatives or programs as required. About you: To be successful, you will have: Extensive experience in governance, risk or compliance experience with demonstrated industry (public or private) experience in contributing or managing Governance Frameworks with a strong understanding of governance, risk, compliance and internal controls practices. Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or industry equivalent (i.e., RMIA, ACI, GIA etc), desirable. Prior demonstrated experience supporting a large organisation in enhancing their organisational governance and able to propose tailored ideas to drive the continuous improvement of governance methodologies across the organisation. Outstanding stakeholder engagement and influencing skills and can effectively partner with a diverse range of stakeholders. This includes having the ability to tailor communication style to suit a range of audiences and conveying technical content in an engaging manner to differing layers of audiences. Advanced MS office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Power BI skills and exposure to setting up dashboards and reports. Capacity to quickly develop a sound knowledge and understanding of NSW Fair Trading operations and a passion for consumer protection ensuring that the NSW community can buy, sell and rent with confidence.
