Our programs aim to support key relationships and systems around the child, fostering a healing environment. The Goulburn Valley region in Victoria hosts the Child Trauma Service, providing high-quality counselling and support to children, young people, and families affected by sexual abuse or harmful sexual behaviours.About the Role As a Senior Child and Family Counsellor based in Shepparton VIC, you will play a crucial role in providing therapeutic intervention, advocacy, research, and training. This position requires a commitment to promoting the rights and safety of children, contributing to policy reviews, engaging in research activities, and delivering training workshops. Responsibilities include:Undertake initial screening of referrals for counselling and conduct comprehensive assessments. Deliver individual, dyadic, group, and family therapy. Provide consultation, and professional development, and contribute to innovative program initiatives. Promote children's rights to safety and contribute to policy and practice reviews. Support research activities, evaluation protocols, and deliver training workshops. Meet administrative and documentation standards, contribute to policy development, and participate in program meetings. About You We are seeking an individual with:A tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or other relevant discipline. Substantial experience in the area of child abuse and/or working with traumatised children. Experience in working with children and young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour, and the system supporting them. Capacity to communicate effectively and positively within a team environment. Ability to provide therapeutic counselling and support to children, young people, and families using a variety of client-focused, trauma-informed modalities that support healing from trauma. Experience undertaking therapeutic assessments using psychometric tools to enhance understanding, assessment, and needs of the child or young person. Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively and positively within a team environment and with external partners and stakeholders. A commitment to working collaboratively and have the capacity to negotiate and liaise with parents, carers, external stakeholders and government departments. An understanding of the complexity of the service system and the issues involved in providing services to statutory clients. A commitment to ongoing learning and reflecting on practice. A current Victorian driver's license or equivalent. A current Victorian Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain.
