Automotive Mechanic

Automotive Trades (Trades & Services). Full-time. $70,000–$80,000 per year.

The position would be suited to a highly motivated and experienced team player who has previous experience working within a busy workshop. With strong interpersonal skills, you will be proactive in your daily responsibilities and have the ability to work unsupervised. You will have the opportunity to further develop your skills in a professional working environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Carry out routine servicing of vehicles.
2. Perform diagnosis and rectify electronic and mechanical problems.
3. Conduct a final road test (quality control) when requested.
4. Ensure that all repair orders are in line with OEM guidelines.
5. Ensure that repair orders, with supporting documentation for warranty compliance, are completed prior to vehicle sign-off.
6. Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components.
7. Reassemble and test repaired engines and components.
8. Ensure units are operating safely and correctly.
9. Perform routine and preventive maintenance as per OEM guidelines.
10. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups.
Assist the STIHL part of the business by cleaning, sharpening, and lubricating a variety of motorised equipment (e.g. Chainsaws, reel mowers, blades, hedge trimmers, edger, trimmers, etc.). Conduct pre-delivery checks to ensure that the equipment is fully functioning and available for delivery. Test and inspect engines for malfunctioning parts.
About you:
1. Relevant trade qualifications: Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
2. Both experience in light vehicles and small engines is desirable; however, it is not essential.
3. Excellent time management/organizational skills and attention to detail.
4. A willingness to learn and an appetite for challenge.
5. Demonstrated workshop experience in detecting and diagnosing faults in engines (preferred, but not essential).
6. C Class Manual Drivers License.
7. Experience in mentoring apprentices.
For the successful applicant, you will be remunerated with an attractive salary plus a technician bonus structure upon completion of our OEM-branded training systems and accreditations. In addition, we offer ongoing manufacturer training for all of our technicians, including attending OEM training workshops off-site and conferences.
