About the role
This role is an integral part of our business, and your care, dignity for the deceased, and attention to detail are paramount. Funeral assistant work is carried out during work hours, as well as transferring the deceased into our care. An on-call telephone roster will be a part of this role.
The role includes:
* Using AV and Live Stream equipment and being tech savvy
* Chauffeuring families to and from funerals if required
* Ensuring funeral vehicles are clean and packed with all necessary equipment
* Following funeral directors' instructions to enable smooth running of the funeral
* Warmly greeting and welcoming all family members and funeral mourners at a funeral service
* Trimming coffins
* Setting up graves
* Transferring deceased into our care from nursing homes, hospitals, etc.
* Being competent or willing to learn all aspects of administration, using Xero, etc.
* Willingness to be on call during the week and weekends
Opportunities for growth:
* Learning and understanding all aspects of back of house processes
* Supporting the administration staff
* Learning the role of a funeral director
You must be tech savvy, able to learn to use live stream equipment, and willing to complete all tasks, including washing our funeral fleet, trimming coffins, transferring deceased, assisting on funerals and in the mortuary, answering phones, completing paperwork, and entering all details into a CRM.

Skills and experience
We are seeking a motivated, community-minded person to start their career in the Funeral Industry as a funeral assistant. Applicants must have knowledge of computer systems, be willing to learn on the job, and be physically fit. A current Driver's Licence is essential. This position covers all areas of the funeral industry.
