The Role Reporting to the Head of Campus, the Head of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) ensures that Junior School students are engaged in a coherent, high-quality scope and sequence of learning in STEM.
The Head of STEM collaborates with and supports learners to connect the principles of STEM to inspire creative learning experiences within and beyond the classroom and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
They will focus on providing staff with capacity and knowledge of effective curriculum, planning, pedagogy and assessment strategies to improve student learning and is responsible for nurturing a rich, vibrant learning culture in STEM across the Junior School.
The Head of STEM oversees this high-quality STEM program which is a Junior School priority to further develop and refine in 2025.
This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity (Position of Responsibility), located at the Malvern campus and commences Term 1, 2025.
Key Duties Design and implement learning and teaching programs using knowledge of curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements Coach teachers with their individual learning goals that promotes best practice Teaching and Learning pedagogy and practice reflects the latest research and technological advancements Establish and implement inclusive and positive interactions to engage and support all students in classroom activities Effective use of student data to inform teaching practice and learning outcomes Coordination of STEM interest clubs Lead external STEM competitions enrich and extend student skill, interest and learning strengths Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours Skills and Experience Knowledge of, and experience in the IB PYP an advantage Ability to lead and motivate a team with strong communication and interpersonal skills Good understanding of strategic cross campus alignment Experience in coordinating and managing STEM department and community events Appropriate formal teaching qualifications with a specialisation/experience in an area of STEM Hold a current VIT Registration Why Caulfield Grammar School Our culture is defined by the five values: Pursuing Excellence, Inspiring Creativity, Thriving Together, Embracing Diversity, and Living Wholeheartedly.
