Local Peoples is seeking enthusiastic and talented Data Analyst in the ACT to join our team as embedded members with our prestigious Government client. The Department is seeking the services of an experienced and highly skilled Data Analyst to work on and support the Connected Information Environment (CIE) Sustainment (DB2) project. The role is located within Data Integration & Engineering (DIE) section in Canberra. DIE section is accountable for the design, development and ongoing sustainment of core integrated data assets that are used to support downstream business needs.
The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:
Responsibilities:
Producing analytical work that is customer focused;
Discovering trends, patterns and stories told by the data, structured and unstructured, and presenting them to stakeholders;
Leveraging new open data sources and extracting further value from existing data;
Producing creative data visualizations and intuitive graphics to present complex analytics;
Performing data discovery with primary and secondary sources;
Cleaning and pruning data to discard irrelevant information;
Identifying new opportunities for process improvement;
Providing concise data reports for management;
Triaging code problems and data-related issues;
Applying data quality techniques to cleanse data and providing feedback for ETL / data quality solutions.
Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices.
The Specified Personnel will also be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:
System Design Specifications;
Detailed business requirement documents;
Mapping documents that provide detailed cohort rules and individual field mappings.
Essential Criteria:
At least five (5) years previous experience working as a Data Analyst.
Proven demonstrated ability to clean and prune data to discard irrelevant information.
Proven demonstrated ability to deal with both business representatives (to negotiate detailed business requirements) and technical personnel (to negotiate detailed technical logic).
Proven demonstrated ability to work independently to perform data discovery / data mapping work.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to gain a comprehensive understanding of the inputs, processing rules and outputs of existing systems.
Desirable criteria:
Ability to triage code problems and data-related issues as well as identifying new opportunities for process improvement.
Detailed knowledge of business systems in the department, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as computer science, information technology, mathematics, statistics or economics.
