Assistant Technician - Sound and Music Technology Edinburgh College of Art / University of Edinburgh Deadline: 29 October 2024 at 23:59 As an Assistant Technician in Sound and Music Technology, you will assist with the support, operation, and maintenance of technical facilities at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). You will provide inductions, guidance, and support to students and staff in standard processes and techniques, and assist students with their projects under the support and guidance of a Technical Manager and Specialist Technicians. You will be responsible for operating the audio equipment store and will assist with support for music events and recitals. Although you will be based primarily in Music, occasional cover across other Media and Immersive areas (Film & TV, Music, Animation, and Immersive) may sometimes be required. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is keen to gain new skills in multiple areas across our technical workshops. Your skills and attributes for success: Vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 2/3, ONC or equivalent) plus work experience in a relevant role OR school education to standard grade or equivalent plus relevant work experience. Working knowledge and experience of relevant processes and equipment to include at least 2 of: electroacoustic music practices, contemporary orchestral music and sound design, live sound performances support, experience in location recording and recording of live events. A good awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices within an educational environment. Demonstrable knowledge, interest, and experience of working in a Music and/or Art background. Excellent communication skills with an ability to produce documentation and help material for students and staff. Ability to work effectively in a team under minimal supervision, and to work with students and staff of a variety of levels of technical ability.
