As part of our Global Accelerating a Positive Planet Future strategy and our Places Australia Strategic Business Plan, we are evolving our Places Australia structure seeking a Business Leader that will lead our national Design and Engineering business across Australia. This is one of our core business lines and houses our core Design & Engineering capability.
Core to the success of this future, are our Business Leaders who will enable our teams success by providing executive leadership, management and supervision of the Places Australia, Business Unit operations and performance to meet the Places Australias business areas performance targets and strategic objectives.
Joining a global consultancy, you and your team will collaborate with colleagues in Europe and Asia as well as North & South America. This will allow us to bolster our offering in Australia and bring the best in class to our clients.
About you
Reporting directly to the Australian Business Area Director and working in partnership with the leadership team, our Business Leader, Design and Engineering will drive a safe and respectful culture of inclusion, accountability, human-centricity, and sustainability, and personally role model a commitment to improving quality of life. You will also bring with you:
1. A demonstrated ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills
2. Well-developed commercial skills, with a sound knowledge of the buildings and engineering design industry and demonstrated entrepreneurial behaviours
3. Excellent communication and relationship building skills (both internally and externally)
4. Strong market reputation and personal brand through thought leadership, market-facing activities relevant to the identified Places markets and engineering disciplines.
5. A recognised bachelor or masters tertiary degree in a design engineering discipline. Qualifications in financial and business management and leadership in a multi-disciplinary design firm is highly desirable
6. Registered Practitioner and professional membership of relevant business/industry institutions
7. At least 10+ years demonstrated experience in operational or business leadership role ideally leading a national business unit of which 20+ years is in design consultancy
8. Well established client management and sales skills
9. Demonstrated experience successfully managing a P&L of similar scale
10. Strong delivery, commercial and contractual experience in relevant design and engineering procurement and project delivery
