About the Position
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Chef to join our team at Hanok Tuggerah Pty Ltd. We are looking for someone who not only has a passion for culinary arts but also brings a positive and hardworking attitude to the kitchen. Our restaurant is known for delivering an authentic Asian culinary dining experience, and we pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of quality and flavor.
The ideal candidate will have a strong appreciation for Asian cuisine, especially Korean barbecue, Chinese and Thai dishes, and possess the specialized skills necessary to prepare and present dishes with precision and consistency. As a chef, your role will be vital in upholding the high standards that define our brand, ensuring that every dish meets our guests' expectations for quality and taste. This role reports directly to the Restaurant Manager / Director
Tasks and Responsibilities
Menu Development
-Curate and continually update menus that reflect Hanok Tuggerah’s commitment to authentic Asian flavors, incorporating guest feedback to enhance each dining experience.
Cost Efficiency and Resource Management
-Accurately estimate and control food and labor costs, ensuring profitability without compromising quality.
-Oversee the ordering and sourcing of fresh ingredients, maintaining high standards of availability and quality.
Quality Assurance in Food Preparation
-Monitor every stage of food preparation, cooking, and presentation, ensuring each dish meets Hanok Tuggerah’s high standards.
-Partner with managers, dietitians, and staff to address any food preparation or presentation concerns, supporting seamless service.
Technical Expertise and Cooking Techniques
-Demonstrate specialized Asian food cooking techniques, offering guidance to maintain consistency in flavor and presentation.
-Actively participate in food preparation and cooking to ensure each dish aligns with our authentic taste profile.
Hygiene and Food Safety Standards
-Enforce strict hygiene and food safety standards to create a safe, clean kitchen environment for staff and guests alike.
-Regularly monitor compliance with food safety regulations, maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness.
Staff Leadership and Development
-Select, train, and mentor kitchen staff to create a cohesive, skilled team.
-Provide ongoing training focused on enhancing skills, particularly in Korean cooking techniques, and manage staff schedules and performance.
Food Preservation and Storage
-Implement preservation techniques, such as freezing, extend shelf life and maintain the quality of select ingredients.
Qualifications, education, experience and abilities required:
Qualifications, education requirements
· Minimum of a Diploma qualification in relevant field or equivalent in substantial experience.
Experience requirements
· At least 3 years of kitchen management and cooking experience in highly relevant role required.
· Must have experience in Asian cuisine, especially Korean BBQ, Chinese and Thai Dishes

· Strong cooking and presentation skills.
· Comprehensive knowledge of all kitchen procedures and ability to manage all aspects of kitchen operations.

The employee’s ordinary hours of work are 38 hours each week as per weekly schedule, including allowed meal and refreshment breaks.
