Job Description The key responsibilities of the Senior Project Engineer - Major Projects will be the following: Provision of specialist engineering advice on the delivery of major capital projects, as directed by the Executive Manager. Lead teams for project delivery activities for capital works across Council's Major Projects portfolio. Undertake thorough and systematic analysis of tender submissions for capital works and prepare detailed reports for the review of senior management and Council. Assist the Executive Manager Major Projects in leadership and supervision of allocated teams and work programs. Manage workload across the team to drive efficiency and Value for Money opportunities. Provide expert professional advice to other Council Officers, Stakeholders, and Councillors on current and proposed projects. Responsible for overall delivery, project management, and contract management of elements of major capital works projects completed by both internal and external resources. Work under limited supervision from the relevant Executive Manager Major Projects to lead and direct project teams and supervise staff and contractors. Provide regular reports on project expenditure and scheduling including details on progress claims, variations, and expenditure trends. Lead consultation and negotiation with internal and external authorities including public utility authorities. Application of a sound technical knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Statutory Approval Legislation, and Contract Law. The Successful Applicant The successful Senior Project Engineer - Major Projects meets the following requirements: Bachelor of Engineering or other relevant Engineering qualification. Extensive civil engineering, project, and contract management experience in a medium to large multi-disciplined organisation. Demonstrated extensive industry experience in water or water-related projects. Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve project and corporate objectives. Working knowledge and understanding of relevant Standards and Legislation. Working knowledge and understanding of project management frameworks, such as PMBOK, PRINCE2, and other industry standards. Desirable Skills and Qualifications Member of The Institution of Engineers Australia, or equivalent industry body. Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland.
