The Role Working collaboratively with the CEO and a small team, the Business Development Officer is responsible for developing and implementing a Fundraising Strategy for Storyfest that aligns to our Strategic Plan. The Business Development Officer is responsible for driving revenue and business growth through corporate activities, philanthropy and government grants. The role includes strategic planning, stakeholder management, retention of sponsors/partners and identification/acquisition of new partnerships. To be successful in this role, you will: Work with the CEO and Producers to develop and implement an overarching Fundraising Strategy for Storyfest that aligns to our Strategic Plan. Work closely with the CEO and Producers to identify corporate partnership opportunities for current and future Storyfest programmes to achieve a corporate partnership target of $175,000, increasing year-on-year. Work closely with the CEO and Producers to identify grant and donation acquisitions for current and future Storyfest programmes to achieve philanthropic partnerships with a target of $500,000, increasing year-on-year. Foster, maintain and develop stakeholder engagement. Align partnerships with Storyfest’s brand and values and maintain long-term relationships. Identify and understand trends and priorities for corporate giving on the Gold Coast, nationally and internationally, to inform Storyfest’s priorities and programming and develop strategies to engage new partners. Foster a whole-of-organisation approach to fundraising where the Storyfest team understands its importance and delivers outstanding experiences to our current and future partners. Prepare proposals for prospective sponsors and negotiate terms of agreement. Manage the delivery of sponsor benefits, as outlined in agreements, including events, invitations and reports. Prepare and present reports to the CEO, Fundraising Working Group and Board, as required. Develop campaigns, collateral and communication plans for attracting and retaining partners. Keep staff, patrons and stakeholders informed about Storyfest programmes and developments. Attend events and host key stakeholders, ensuring relevant introductions and networking opportunities with respective parties. Champion Storyfest and actively support the mission and vision. Undertake other duties, as directed, commensurate with the level of this position. The successful candidate will have: Previous experience working in a similar role. Previous experience in grant and/or philanthropy acquisition. An ability to work effectively under pressure in a high-profile work environment and manage concurrent projects, with organization skills and excellent attention to detail. An entrepreneurial and ambitious mindset. Excellent interpersonal skills with high-level verbal and written communication. High-level negotiation and influencing skills. Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making capability. An ability to build and develop effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, at all levels. An ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks. A passion for education, specifically literacy development Current driver’s license. A Working with Children Blue Card (or be willing to obtain one).
