The Network & Service Architecture team work across agile cross-disciplinary Commercial Business Units, Information Technology Groups, and teams within Network and vendors or partners to provide end to end alignments, to provide strategic, operational, financial, commercial, risk management and governance support on Optus network initiative or major service development. The Director for Network Service Architecture & Strategy will define and lead the comprehensive architecture for all network domains, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals and future growth. This role focuses on creating an adaptive and forward-looking network architecture that enhances service delivery, optimized performance, and supports next-generation telecommunications technologies. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a strategic network architecture roadmap that aligns with business objectives, technological advancements, and market trends. Focusing on the transition to 5G, cloud-native architectures and converged networks. Build the strategic vision broadly by creating and implementing a comprehensive roadmap to guide the network's evolution in line with the Optus's goals, emerging technologies, and market dynamics. Lead all aspects of the team’s design and architecture of core, transport, access, and edge networks, ensuring flawless integration across multiple platforms (wireless, fibre, and cloud). Provide guidance and direction to the architecture team in evaluating emerging technologies, including AI, AR/VR, SDN, CNF, and cloud computing, and assess their impact on current network strategies. Providing direction and guidance, establishing architecture principal governance, and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., 3GPP, ETSI, GSMA) and regulatory requirements whilst maintaining high levels of network integrity and security. Why you are our next Director You have a consistent track record of implementing large-scale network transformations, including modernisation and migration from legacy to cloud-native or virtualized environments. You bring deep expertise in Mobile Core, IP and Access Network Architecture (e.g., 5G, LTE, IP/MPLS, SDN/CNF, IMS, IN, VoLTE, VoNR, Orchestrations, AI, Automations and CI/CD). You take a strategic approach and a have proven ability to align network architecture to business objectives complimented by analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in evaluating new technologies and making data-driven decisions. You also bring senior level leadership and communication skills to engage with executive leadership, technical teams, and external partners. What’s in it for you?
