Live a story worth telling while capturing and promoting the stories of your fellow ADF members using industry standard cameras and video equipment.
A career as a Navy Imagery Specialist (IS) is one of the most diverse and varied careers in the ADF. In the course of your duties domestically and internationally, you will photograph, film, and process Navy’s wide and impressive capability – all through the lens of a camera.
Navy IS are also one of the most deployable capabilities in the Navy – if there is a Navy story worth telling to the Australian people, there is a good chance a Navy IS is there to capture the action. You will deploy either independently, or as a member of a Military Camera Team, depending on the task or tasks at hand.
Navy IS are trained to industry standard and attain the nationally recognised CUA41115 Certificate IV in Photography and Photo Imaging within the first 6 months of military training with opportunities for further continuation training throughout their career.
Navy IS are equipped with industry leading equipment and are constantly learning new photographic and video techniques, as the industry progresses quickly with innovative technology developments. It is an exciting time to learn, develop skills, knowledge, and experience to become an expert in multi-media content creation and editing.
