The Role…
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering interventions to a wide range of clients across the lifespan. We acknowledge applicants may have special interests and preferences to work with specific client populations. We invite applicants to discuss these with us so we can explore where your passions and our vision align and discuss the opportunities we can provide you to actively engage in these areas and develop your treatment focus. Opportunities are also available for interested practitioners to design and facilitate individual and group-based interventions and education sessions. Main Responsibilities:
o Provide evidence-based psychological assessment and strategies to adults, youth, and children over 7 years of age in a private practice setting.
o Provide telehealth sessions as required.
o Maintain accurate electronic case notes and client records.
o Write reports – including but not limited to: Progress summary & discharge reports, assessment findings reports, functional assessment reports and NDIS review reports.
o Participate in case conferences and supervision/mentoring, where applicable.
o Work collaboratively and cooperatively with therapy and administration team.
These are the main responsibilities. Discussion of other responsibilities, including specific tasks and expectations, will occur during the interview process.
Remuneration:
We are open to discussing contracting or employment arrangements, based on candidate preference.
We will consider EMPLOYEE clinical psychologist role for the right person that can earn a potential up to $125,000 (FTE). Employee positions are desirable for their structure, stability, full leave entitlements, superannuation, clinical support, supervision, and mentoring.
We will consider CONTRACTOR clinical psychologist roles for independent contractors we engage to deliver high quality professional services to our clients. In person consultations must take place at Thrive Wellness offices (except for approved other location visits). Qualifications and essential criteria:
o AHPRA Registered as General Psychologist with Clinical Endorsement
o Tertiary Masters degree or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent)
o Independently meets CPD requirements set by AHPRA
o Minimum 12 months private practice experience
o Registered Medicare Provider (or eligible for full registration)
o Criminal History and Working with Children Check
o NDIS Worker screening clearance
o NDIS Worker orientation module completion certificate (or willing to obtain)
o Professional Indemnity Insurance
o Willingness to comply with Queensland Health guidelines and Public Health orders
o ABN (contractors only)
Experience & Skills:
o Demonstrated experience in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of adults, adolescents, children, and their families with a range of presentations. Psychometric assessment skills are not required, although some familiarity with testing is.
o Excellent understanding and ability to work within evidence-based practice and patient-centred care models.
o Excellent medical terminology, knowledge of mental health assessment tools, standardised outcome measures.
o Demonstrated experience in delivery of various evidence-based focused psychological therapies in a private clinical setting, with excellent understanding of each therapy’s indicated use and delivery timeframes.
o Demonstrated experience working with developmental, attachment and trauma informed frameworks.
o Demonstrated ability to build rapport with clients and families, stakeholders, colleagues.
o Demonstrated ability to work independently, but also collaboratively within a team.
o Excellent verbal and written communication.
o For candidates interested in Contracting opportunities, a proficient understanding of referral schemes, compliance standards, and reporting requirements for various third-party funders such as Workers Compensation, NDIS, Medicare and DVA is essential. For employees, familiarity with these aspects is desirable, with a commitment to enhancing knowledge and proficiency within six months.
o Conflict resolution skills.

o Strong organisational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
o Adept in utilising time efficiently, accommodating and completing non-client contact tasks (eg. report writing) during intervals between client bookings, instances of non-attendance, cancellations, etc.

o Supported by specialist administration team who have specialist knowledge in Allied Health practice operations, referral pathways, compliance and audit requirements. Admin team manage practice operations including marketing, referrals, establishing rapport with clients, answering booking-related questions, scheduling appointments and reminders, setting client therapy expectations. They also build community and support the client relationship between clinical sessions, providing clients support to overcome access barriers and actively engage in therapy to achieve timely outcomes that align with the client’s goals.
o Current premise offers staff carparking, is located next to a beautiful 4.5hectare parkland and is only a 5min walk to Grand Central. It boasts a full kitchen and bathroom (with shower) for staff who wish to utilise - imagine cycling to work and whisking up an omelette for breakfast!
