It is preferred for the candidate to have a bachelor's degree in accounting and be a CPA/CA (or working towards these qualifications).
This is a varied role, and we are looking for a dedicated, flexible, and proactive individual to complement our existing Head Office team.
Reporting directly to the State Accountant, your main duties will include:
Balance sheet account reconciliations Assisting with the month-end accounting process Review of subcontractor/creditor payments Assisting with tax expense calculations/reconciliations and compliance (GST, FBT, Payroll tax) Other ad-hoc accounts-related tasks A significant emphasis will be placed on having a positive attitude and a strong attention to detail.
This is a full-time position Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm (Wednesday 5:30pm) with a requirement to be available to work one Saturday morning per month for stock take.
What You Will Be Doing: General ledger balance sheet reconciliations (Sundry debtors, stock-in-transit, prepaid accounts, payroll related provisions, creditor/accrued liabilities, warranty credit claims, intercompany loan balances, etc.) Month-end close responsibilities, including journal entries for accrued expenses and account balance adjustments Reviewing internal creditor statements for weekly/monthly payment run Review Accounts Payable general ledger coding Provide assistance to Accounts receivable function / debtor account management, including customer refunds Weekly bank account reconciliation Ad-hoc accounting and general accounts-related tasks Managing areas of compliance, including GST/FBT, insurance and franchise licence requirements Providing support to the State Accountant and other Accounts team members as required Who we are looking for: Demonstrated accounts/payroll/accounting knowledge (2+ years' experience) Excellent communication skills and telephone manner Strong attention to detail Exceptional customer service to internal and external customers Decision making ability and a sense of responsibility Excellent time management and organisational skills Ability to prioritise and multi-task in a fast-paced environment Ability to work in a dynamic team environment You must have your own reliable transport.
