About:
The Occupational Therapist operates within an early learning framework and provides specialist therapy support for children with autism spectrum disorder, their families, and carers. The Occupational Therapist will be working within a team, contributing to Individual Plans to support children to develop play, social, motor, and self-help skills. The Occupational Therapist provides training and supervision to team members in their area of expertise.
Duties:

3. Ensure resources and equipment are used efficiently and economically
4. Contribute to arranging and maintaining the indoor/outdoor areas in a visually stimulating, safe, and hygienic condition
Selection Criteria Preferred qualification(s): Essential:
5. Bachelor or Master of Occupational Therapy
6. AHPRA registration
7. QLD: Ability to obtain Positive Blue Card
8. ACT: Positive Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration
9. NDIS Worker Screening Check
Job Knowledge / Ability:
10. Demonstrated ability to provide evidence-based Occupational Therapy services for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in an early intervention setting
11. Experience in working with children with ASD is desired
12. Knowledge of typically developing children from birth to school aged children is desired
13. Willingness to continue to learn evidence-based intervention strategies and ASD-specific techniques
14. Demonstrated commitment to best practice, continuing professional and personal development
15. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members, families, and external providers
16. Experience working with a curriculum and knowledge of relevant standards and legislation in Australia
17. Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and coach staff
18. Knowledge of behavioural interventions (including Applied Behaviour Analysis [ABA]) is desirable

19. Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
20. Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
21. Comply with Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
