About the Role We are looking for an API systems programmer/specialist to join our Mainframe Core Systems team. This system programmer team manage IMS, Db2, MQ and API technologies across Production and Development environments including regular operating software life-cycle updates. You will become a key player in the design, build and support of high-availability API configurations across these environments. The role will combine your foundation in API technology with a solid understanding of Industry Best Practice and Standards ensuring we operate secure and efficient systems. You will also have a role mentoring other team members in API systems management. What will your day look like? Providing technical support and consulting to API customers and support teams. Developing and maintaining API architecture and patterns for consumption including with z/OS Connect, IMS Connect, OpenAPI2 and OpenAPI3 protocols. Translating customer requirements into high-performance, resilient API solutions. On call (rostered) support for our IMS, Db2, MQ Production systems. Mentoring and training team members to enhance API management skills. What will you bring? Demonstrable skills managing API processing in complex mainframe environments including: DevOps (Git, Ansible, ZOWE, z/OSMF), USS on z/OS, IMS Connect, z/OS Connect. Problem determination and resolution expertise & performance management experience utilizing technologies including: Splunk, IMS Performance Analyzer, BMC Log Analyzer, Mainview. Experience supporting users of API services, preferably including exposure to REXX, Python, COBOL, Assembler languages. The ability to communicate API processing standards and best practice to application development teams. Knowledge and understanding of complex security and threat reduction processes in API and transaction processing environments - preferably using RACF & zSecure.
