Ongoing role, Full time (flexibility may be available)Usual work location: 289 Wellington Parade South, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)The Role The Principal Economic Modeller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, delivery and continuous enhancement of the Victorian Skills Authority's (VSA) core economic models, including the VSA Employment Model and the Vocational Education and Training Skills Alignment (VETSA) model. You will have the opportunity to lead and mentor a dedicated team of analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Lead project planning, development and delivery of VSA's core modelling projects and products, including the VSA's Employment Model and Vocational Education and Training Skills Alignment (VETSA) model.Contributes advanced expertise and knowledge to identify and deliver on improvements to economic models and insights products produced by the Industry Skills Analysis team and the VSA.Generate quantitative and qualitative economic insights about current and future skills requirements using analytical software such as R, Python or equivalent.Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic and operational decision-making and maximise the impact of our analytical products.The Team The position of Principal Economic Modeller forms a part of the Analysis and Insights Branch within the Victorian Skills Authority.
The key role of this Branch is to deliver cutting edge advice on skills needs, labour market intelligence and VET performance in Victoria. Its program of work includes:
developing high quality projects such as the Victorian Skills Plandelivering a survey program to approximately 30,000 Victorian employers of apprentices and trainees and around 180,000 Victorian VET studentsgenerating detailed insights into VET quality, performance and outcomesforecasting labour demand, estimating VET training needs, assessing skill shortages, modelling skills trends and conducting sophisticated analysis.About You To be successful, you will bring strong economic modelling and analytical expertise, pragmatic problem solving, initiative, commitment to continuous improvement, a sound understanding of economic frameworks and proficiency in analytical tools.
