About You :
* Post Graduation degree in Psychology
* AHPRA Registration
* Professional Liability Insurance
* Current membership (or eligibility) of the Australian Psychological Society or AAPi desirable, and demonstrated ability to comply with the profession’s code of ethics and practice in accordance with legislation affecting psychology practice for maintenance of registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
* Current Medicare Registration or eligibility and willingness to obtain registration when eligible
* A valid Working with Children’s Check
* You have a full, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence and reliable access to a registered, fully insured vehicle.
Position Summary :
THE PRACTICE
At Strength Psychology, we strive to deliver the highest quality psychological service to children, adolescents, families and schools in the Greater Geelong community.
Strength Psychology provides a wide range of assessments and interventions to address educational and developmental problems. We use psychometric measures with all clients to clearly demonstrate outcomes and adjustments. The successful candidate will be working with a diverse caseload of NDIS clients, mental health treatment plan clients, private clients and schools. They will use evidence-based approaches to help clients with issues such as:
- mental health (anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD)
- behaviour management and parenting skills
- emotional regulation skills
- social skills
- goal setting and attainment
- motivation, learning and memory
- child development
- interpersonal relationships.

THE ROLE
As the Child and Adolescent Psychologist, you will be working with children and adolescents in a range of developmental areas including diagnostic assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cognitive Impairments, Learning/Development delays, diagnostic assessment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), adaptive behaviour and/or Mental Health concerns. You will conduct one-on-one counselling sessions, conduct psychological testing, provide parent/caregiver support and write therapeutic reports as required. The role will entail service delivery from the clinic, telehealth and school visits.

* At Strength Psychology, you will be remunerated with an attractive salary, negotiable up to $101,000 (plus an additional $30,000 achievable through bonus structures) plus super. Contracting options are also possible.

Key Requirements :
* Endorsement in educational and developmental psychology is highly regarded
* Prior relevant experience working with children, working in schools or in a private practice clinic
* A comprehensive understanding of the health issues impacting individuals with Mental Health concerns, ASD diagnosis and/or ID/Cognitive Impairment
* Demonstrated skill in working as part of a multidisciplinary team with a sound understanding of your role as Psychologist delivering services to young people and their families.
* Demonstrated experience/interest in the provision of clinical, evidence-based assessment and interventions with young people and their families that present with disabilities and mental health conditions.
* Demonstrated effective verbal and written skills with particular emphasis on interpersonal communication skills, establishing trust and rapport, maintaining confidentiality and record keeping
* You are flexible in your approach to working with a variety of clients and their families, operating in an individualised way with each person
Job Responsibility :
* Psychological evidence-based intervention and counselling via 1:1 sessions, telehealth and group-based programs
* Conduct diagnostic assessments (ASD, ADHD, Mental Health, Personality Disorders) and develop effective psychological reports with tailored recommendations for schools and families.
* Conduct Risk Assessments and initiate harm minimisation strategies and techniques, including Suicide and Violent risk – provide referrals and treatment if in line with program policies and guidelines
* Conduct initial comprehensive intake assessment to determine accurate case conceptualisations and treatment plans
* Relate to young people in a manner that is relevant and appropriate for their cognitive level of functioning
* Ensure maintenance of privacy and confidentiality in relation to client information in accordance with organisational policy, cultural protocol and professional ethics and guidelines
* Comply with established policies, procedures and other protocols required to maintain an effective and efficient practice
* Participate in supervision, team meetings, collaborative planning and performance development processes and relevant professional development activities
* Participate in quality improvement activities to maintain and improve standards of practice
* Comply with all Professional Development and supervision requirements as per APS guidelines and frameworks
