Job Description - Project Engineer - Stringing (263323)Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.The OpportunityThe Project Engineer - Stringing role involves technical oversight, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver the project on time and within budget.Please note this role will initially be based in Sydney, with transition into a site delivery role requiring DIDO/FIFO or relocation where additional allowances will apply.Key AccountabilitiesWe are seeking an experienced Project Engineer – Stringing, to join the HumeLink West team. The position is responsible for:Developing and overseeing project plans for power stringing operations including schedules, resource allocation, and milestones.Coordinating with design teams, subcontractors, and site crews to ensure stringing activities align with project goals and timelines.Ensuring all stringing activities comply with safety standards, environmental regulations and industry codes of practice. Conducting risk assessments and enforcing safe work procedures during operations.Providing technical expertise in stringing methodologies, including tension stringing and conductor installation.Liaising with project managers, clients and project field teams to provide updates on stringing progress, challenges and solutions.About YouRelevant qualifications or a degree in Engineering or related field.Demonstrated experience in stringing operations, including tension stringing, conductor installation and associated equipment.Strong understanding of transmission line construction standards and practices.Familiarity with safety standards, environmental regulations and experience with implementing site-specific safety procedures.Proven ability to manage schedules, resources and budgets in complex projects, strong problem-solving skills and strong leadership qualities to guide and motivate crews during critical stringing activities.The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
