Purpose As the Head Chef, you are the heart and soul of the culinary experience. Your leadership shapes the kitchen's culture, inspiring your team to craft memorable and delectable dishes that capture the essence of our brand. You will guide your team with expertise and mentorship, overseeing food preparation, curating enticing menus, and ensuring a safe, efficient kitchen operation. This position offers a competitive base salary of $80,000 (experience-based) plus superannuation. Primary Responsibilities Developing menus, including selecting ingredients, creating recipes, and ensuring variety and quality. Overseeing the daily operations of The Hungry Monkey kitchen, including staff scheduling, inventory management, and kitchen hygiene. Supervising the cooking process, ensuring that dishes are prepared to the highest standards in terms of taste, presentation, and portion size. Managing the kitchen's budget, controlling food costs, and minimizing waste to maximize profitability. Hiring, training, and supervising kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, to ensure a smooth operation. Collaborating with the Cafe Manager, front-of-house staff, and suppliers to coordinate the overall dining experience. Skills & Experience Previous experience as a Head or Senior Sous Chef is required. Proven leadership abilities and positive track record of effectively managing kitchen teams. You thrive in menu design, crafting innovative dishes with seasonal ingredients, accommodating dietary needs, and maintaining top-notch presentation. Take great pride and passion in the food you produce with exceptional attention to detail. Strong organizational abilities for preparation, planning, and cost control. A natural team player that loves the synergy of a great team, but can also work autonomously with ease.
