In this role, you will support government relations, media engagement, and advocacy efforts to enhance our reputation as a trusted government stakeholder.Key responsibilities include: Build and maintain relationships with government officials at all levelsPrepare briefing notes, speeches, and presentationsDevelop, implement and monitor proactive advocacy campaignsConduct media monitoring and identify emerging issues and opportunitiesRespond to government inquiries and submissionsOrganise and manage political delegationsDefine and deliver effective media, public relations and issues/crisis management strategies in consultation with the Executive Directors, to manage the reputation and credibility of the organisation effectively.Create communications materials such as media alerts, media releases, and statementsPitch stories and schedule media announcementsSupport media announcements and coordinate with stakeholdersFurther develop the Unlock the North advocacy platformMaintain stakeholder and Government contacts databaseEssential to your success is: Bachelor's degree in PR, marketing, journalism, political science, or related fieldRelevant experience in media, government, or community relationsStrong understanding of the Australian political landscape, especially in North QueenslandProven ability to build relationships with political advisors and industry leadersExperience in project management and planning for political delegationsSkilled in researching and preparing policy briefingsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent time management and attention to detailFamiliarity with traditional and new mediaValid driver's license and willingness to travelWhy Join Us?
