The maintenance electrician is responsible for inspections including mandatory inspections, repair and adjustment of all electrical plant, equipment and circuitry and for the installation of additional power, lighting circuits and components throughout the St George Hospital Campus and Community Health centre sites to ensure the maintenance objectives are met in a timely, reliable and efficient manner. In addition, undertaking provisions of electrical safety, preventative, corrective and statutory maintenance to plant and equipment as directed. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing. All Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of emergency generators and their associated switching systems, electrical systems including nurse call and C-bus lighting or capability to learn, mandatory testing such as electrical safety tagging, generators, and residual current devices. Able to demonstrate good organisational and time management skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision while following safe work practices. Proven skills in fault finding and problem solving, including the ability to interpret building and services plans. Electrical trade qualification and knowledge and application of relevant Australian Standards and Codes of Practice. Sound written and verbal communication skills. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and work order systems. Interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively personally and within a team environment in the workplace. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Work, Health and Safety and preferably hold a current white card Occupational Health and Safety General Induction for Construction in NSW Certificate.
