The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building maintenance and technical operations, and will play a key role in helping us deliver excellent service to our tenants and stakeholders. Role Overview: As a Temporary Technical Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management and maintenance of our housing properties. You will assist with technical operations, including overseeing maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and managing vendor relationships. You will be a key point of contact for tenants and contractors and will help maintain the overall safety and functionality of our housing stock. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance & Repairs: Oversee and coordinate maintenance tasks for residential properties, including routine repairs and emergency call-outs. Project Management: Assist in the planning, delivery, and monitoring of capital works and improvement projects. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations, as well as industry standards. Vendor Management: Liaise with contractors and suppliers, ensuring that work is completed to required standards and within budget. Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to the housing management team on issues relating to building maintenance, infrastructure, and utilities. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and project activities. Prepare reports and provide updates to senior management on project progress. Tenant Support: Respond to tenant queries and issues related to property maintenance, ensuring prompt and efficient resolutions. Essential Skills & Experience: Previous experience in building maintenance, construction, or a technical officer role (ideally in the social housing or not-for-profit sector). Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and building compliance standards. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Good understanding of construction techniques, building materials, and systems (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC). Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance management software (preferably). Full Australian driving license (if required for site visits). Desirable: Qualification in a relevant technical field (e.g., Building Services, Construction, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering). Experience working within the not-for-profit or social housing sectors. Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency practices within housing management. Why Temp?
