About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the ALIVE National Centre for Mental Health Research Translation, Department of General Practice and Primary Care, Melbourne Medical School.
The University of Melbourne, through the ALIVE National Centre for Mental Health Research Translation, successfully led a MRFF Consumer-Led Research Grant: A Citizen Science Project to co-create 'BigaagARri' a Preventive Experiential, Arts, Cultural Evidence (PEACE) model for implementing at-scale in primary care and community. The PEACE project brings together existing citizen science efforts across different universities to co-create preventive, experiential, art and cultural evidence (PEACE) models for holistic health that are trauma-violence informed conversations using immersive media.
Working collaboratively, the Research Fellow role will work across the three research streams of the PEACE project.
Your responsibilities will include:
4. Lead co-creation processes within communities, including expanded engagement approaches and adapted methods for crowdsourcing.
5. Develop and coordinate implementation of a public, tailored engagement strategy for crowdsourcing through family violence services, community mental health support services and community health service sites as appropriate.
6. Develop and promote crowdsourcing challenges for idea generation through multiple communications channels including social media.
Who We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role you will be a highly motivated researcher, with experience in working in research within applied service settings and facilitation of groups. You have experience in working across diverse communities and have demonstrated exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
You will also have:
7. PhD degree (or submission within next six months) in arts, humanities, health, co-design and/or participatory methods, qualitative research.
8. Demonstrated facilitation and coordination of experience-based co-design, community engagement or participatory action research projects.
9. Ability to work with digital online collaborative spaces for crowdsourcing and to adapt methods for wider engagement and participation of people from different backgrounds.

The Department of General Practice and Primary Care originated as a unit within the Department of Community Medicine in 1977. It was established as a separate department within the School of Medicine in 2001 and established the Primary Care Research Unit (PCRU) as a centre of excellence in primary care research, research training and knowledge exchange in 2006. The Department has 68 (full time equivalent) staff supported by an operating budget of $7 million and research income of approximately $11 million annually.
With an increased profile within the Melbourne Medical School, the Department has utilised its growing network of general practitioners (GPs) and primary health care providers in the community to ensure that University of Melbourne medical students are provided with quality community-based medical education. The Department delivers postgraduate training for primary care nurses, and research training for medical, honours, masters (4) and PhD students (18).
