Short-Term - Project Finance and Audit ConsultantAre you a mid-level experienced accountant with a keen eye for detail and process efficiency?We have an urgent need for an external consultant to assist with a project audit as part of our donor requirement.This consultancy will be dedicated to executing critical project audit tasks, ensuring thorough and accurate financial reviews.Additionally, the consultant will provide comprehensive support to the team, guiding them through intricate audit requirements and compliance standards.The audit process is anticipated to span up to three months, with a targeted completion date of 31 October 2024.About usLive & Learn Environmental Education (LLEE) has been making waves for nearly three decades, expanding its reach across 15 countries with a passionate team of over 400 staff and volunteers.From the Indian Ocean to Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Live & Learn country offices operate as local NGOs, partnering with governments and agencies to drive their mission of building climate resilience and creating a sustainable, equitable world.About the projectOne of our standout initiatives, the project you will be working on is part of a broader program addressing land access and investment challenges in the Solomon Islands, a country brimming with tourism potential.The project goal is to unlock sustainable benefits from the Solomon Islands' rich forest resources - for local communities and livelihoods.Together with our local partners, including Live & Learn Solomon Islands, we are dedicated to making this vision a reality.Scope of workThe scope of the consultancy is to assist and contribute towards an audit process required by one of the project donors, involving two local partners based in Solomon Islands.The Project Finance and Audit Consultant will complete the following activities in support of the timely completion of the project audit:Convert all project-related transactions from local currencies to USD for a period of 25 months (2022-2024), ensuring accuracy and consistency in conversion rates across three project partners.Reconcile all funds and expenses to the project bank account balance monthly for the 25-month period, identifying and accounting for any unrelated transactions to maintain financial integrity.Prepare the Fund Accountability Statement in strict accordance with donor guidelines, including all necessary notes and disclosures to provide a comprehensive financial overview for project partners.Engage with two local Solomon Islands-based partners to gather required information and documentation, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to fulfil the scope of work efficiently.Consult with the Melbourne-based Live & Learn Environmental Education National Support Office (LLEE NSO) and the project auditor as needed.Facilitate smooth coordination and address any queries or concerns promptly.Provide all necessary documents required for the audit.Work closely with local teams to ensure timely and accurate submission of audit-related materials.Qualifications and experience:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.Minimum of 2 years of experience in Finance and Audit consulting.Experience supporting a project audit process in the international development sector is preferred.CPA or CA designation is an advantage but not required.Skills and competencies:Strong analytical abilities to meticulously examine financial records, identify discrepancies and understand complex systems and a large volume of transactions.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey findings and analysis clearly and concisely.Ability to engage with country offices and partners effectively.Experience in working with overseas teams preferred.Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and MYOB or other similar financial software to easily navigate audit requirements.Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines with grace and compassion.Additional details:Working days and location: First 3 weeks will be based in the Melbourne office with 3 days a week in-office attendance.Hybrid or remote work possible for the following weeks, upon agreement with the project manager and auditor.Duration: 3 months or up to 31 October 2024.Payment type: Invoicing will be based upon timely completion of deliverables.Total contract value: AUD 8,000 exclusive of GST.To apply:Please click the apply button on our online recruitment platform.You will need to submit your CV and Cover Letter into the application and answer a few questions regarding your application.The team is looking to recruit the consultant urgently and will be arranging interviews as soon as potential candidates are identified via our recruitment platform.Please send your application as early as you can and we will review applications as they are received. #J-18808-Ljbffr
