Hello. We’re The Y WA.
We’re a global brand, but we’re also that local (Not-For-Profit), that believes in the power of inspired young people. It’s a bold statement, but it’s true, just ask our amazing young people who use our range of youth services across WA. They’ll probably tell you about ‘Y-Time’ outreach and ‘Drumbeat’ in Armadale (Perth, WA). It’s our funky series of youth programs co-designed with youth for our young people aged 11- to 18 years old.
Now that we’re in full swing with program activities we’re looking for 3 Youth Engagement Officers who’s keen to hang with us at Y-Time @ our new office in Armadale. What you’ll be doing
Given you might be kind-of new to youth services, you’re spend your first few days’ learning. Don’t stress, you’ll have a great mentor to work with. Once you’ve settled, you’ll assist Senior Youth Workers in facilitating social and recreation programs. You’ll assist with our new and exciting nighttime sports program on weekend nights. At times you may also be required to fill in on some of our other youth engagement programs. But your usual grove would be engaging with young people and exploring support options to help them flourish. At times you’ll assist with admin. You might complete shift or incident reports, help with data entry and program planning. At the end of shift, you’ll probably feel pretty chuffed. So, you should. You’ve just made another positive impact to our young people lives!
You’ll be great in this role if you…
* Have a Cert III (or greater or currently studying) in Youth Work, Education, Community Work, Social Work or other relevant discipline and equivalent experience
* Can demonstrate the ability to engage with young people and work collaboratively as part of a team
* Are available to work some afternoons during the week and some night times – till 1am on a Friday and Saturday.
* Understand and can adhere to the WA Youth Work code of ethics
* Current C class driver’s license.
* Can obtain National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
* Can obtain a HLTAID011 First Aid certificate
* Can obtain a Food Handling/Safety Certificate (Desirable)
