Starting salary from $82K; package up to $120KThe Australian Bureau of Statistics is seeking to recruit several Senior Project Management Officers to work in our IT Work Program Management Section.
These are permanent roles at the APS 5 and APS 6 classification levels.About the Senior Project Management Officer rolesSenior Project Management Officers coordinate workforce management activities and actively contribute to projects and strategic plans to address workforce and related financial matters.As a Senior Project Management Officer, your responsibilities may include:Leading Initiatives: Use project management methods and tools, including agile methodologies, to coordinate, monitor, and evaluate various workforce management activities.Report Preparation and Coordination: Develop high-quality presentations, contributing to and preparing business management reporting, workforce reporting, project/portfolio documentation, and proposal papers for an executive audience.Administrative Services: Deliver support across several services, including preparing professional correspondence, managing knowledge basis systems, maintaining registers and databases, and organizing actions.Budget & Resource Management: Work with key stakeholders in TSD and the finance team to undertake policy and resource analysis, support budget requirements, and planning for TSD sections, programs, and projects.Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.Process Development: Initiate, implement, and refine work processes as needed to improve organizational efficiency.Note: The APS 6 Senior Project Management Officer role has responsibility for more complex work and staff management.What we are looking for (selection criteria)You should be able to demonstrate, or have high potential to develop, the following skills, qualities, and experience:Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders and build working relationships to achieve outcomes.

Qualifications and knowledge of project management software products and frameworks such as Prince2 would be highly regarded.Ability to utilize analytical capability to interpret information and make informed recommendations.
