What’s the role?Reporting to the General Manager National Logistics, this role will play a critical role in driving a safety first culture in Logistics through leadership, risk management, governance & assurance activities. You will proactively identify operational efficiencies, plan and implement safety and compliance initiatives with staff and suppliers while developing a sustainable, cost-effective logistics network. By overseeing operational activities and process improvements, you ensure the safe, timely and sustainable delivery of News Corp Australia publications.Key ResponsibilitiesContractor ManagementWork with GM Logistics and procurement in the development and implementation of contract strategies, out to market activities, internal recommendation and approvals and contract documentationMonitor and assess supplier performance and initiate appropriate corrective action for performance issuesWork with contractors to drive operational efficiencies, network optimization and cost our opportunitiesOperationalAccountable for delivery of logistics services in the Southern Region and delivery of logistics services by 3rd party contractors in other areasManage the team to effectively investigate and respond to queries relating to secondary distribution issuesPeopleEmbed a safety culture within Logistics team and assist in driving a customer centric cultureSafetyDrive a culture of safety focusing on Leadership, Risk Management & Governance/AssuranceCommercialWork with GM Logistics to ensure expenditure levels are within organisational parametersSupport GM Logistics in development and execution of overall strategy for the regionLead development/optimisation of the logistics network and execution of cost-out initiativesCustomer & StakeholdersEnsure service fulfilment by Logistics suppliersDrive the development of a customer centric culture and approach to managing suppliersWho are you?Tertiary qualifications in logistics, supply chain, legal, commerce or significant senior experience in logistics managementDemonstrated experience in developing and leading a safety first culture including detailed understanding of Chain of Responsibility and contractor management.Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team, with a proven record of effectively driving high-performance cultures.Strong knowledge of logistical systems, processes, and best practices, with expertise in optimising transportation networks and depot operations.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levelsStrong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals and deliver exceptional outcomesExceptional problem solving and negotiation skillsDemonstrated ability to manage complex commercial arrangements and develop supplier management processes.Proven ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.News BenefitsNews Benefits is our way of saying thank you to our people for their valued contribution to News, our audiences, clients and communities.
