About the Role We seek a dynamic and visionary leader to drive Queensland's innovation economy to new heights.
As Deputy Director-General, Innovation, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of Queensland's innovation landscape, fostering capacity building, and facilitating long-term economic growth through collaborative partnerships.
You will lead the Innovation division, working alongside government, industry, universities, businesses, start-ups, and entrepreneurs to create a connected innovation ecosystem that addresses global challenges and delivers jobs for Queenslanders.
In this executive-level role and reporting to a dynamic Director-General, you will provide strategic leadership and direction across the department's innovation portfolio, ensuring alignment with government priorities and strategic objectives.
You will lead the delivery of innovative programs, initiatives, and hubs that translate ideas into commercial success, driving economic growth and job creation.
Your expertise will be crucial in advising the Minister, Director-General, and Senior Executives on the effectiveness of services, programs, and policies, while championing strategies to attract, build, and retain top talent within Queensland.
As part of a collaborative leadership team, you will represent the department in negotiations with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and communities, ensuring Queensland remains a leader in innovation.
You will oversee a divisional budget and manage a team of approximately 67 FTE, setting clear priorities and performance expectations and fostering a workplace culture that is inclusive, diverse, and focused on delivering outcomes for all Queenslanders.
