Purpose of the Role
The role of an auxiliary firefighter is unique and challenging, requiring individuals who can work as part of a team to respond to emergency incidents and promote community safety and emergency preparedness.
Key Requirements
To be successful in this role, applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements:
* Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies
* Live or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station
* Australian Permanent Resident Status
* Manual C Class driver's licence
The QFES expects all auxiliary firefighters to commit to attending incident and emergency calls, regular drill and training sessions, and ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs.
Your Key Accountabilities
As a member of a team, your key accountabilities will include:
* Responding to fire and other emergency incidents
* Promoting community safety and emergency preparedness through community education activities
* Developing and maintaining competencies through regular drills and training courses
* Maintaining required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training
* Operating specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner
* Contributing to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities
* Ensuring maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities
* Contributing to incident reporting and general station administration
